Design rendering which details this “in progress” project in Middletown, CT.

It all started when these Middletown, CT, homeowners contacted Archadeck of Central Connecticut to discuss replacing their existing basic deck because it no longer fulfilled their outdoor living needs. During our initial consultation they shared their vision of a low maintenance, spacious deck that could deliver beauty, longevity and versatility of function all in one. Although their existing deck was in decent shape for its age, in order to fully translate their vision into reality, the old deck had to be demolished. Like a painter starting with a fresh canvas, in this cleared space the homeowners could really begin to “see” the enhanced functionality their new deck will provide as well as how stunning this addition will be for their home’s exterior.

We began with 3D renderings of the custom designed, large multi-level deck. These images better display how the deck will provide multiple areas of outdoor living enjoyment as well as the material colors and board installation pattern. Once the homeowners approved the design, we started constructing the framework of the structure. In these “in progress” photos, notice the image of the stairs under construction and how they appear like the vertebrae of the prehistoric stegosaurus dinosaur. We installed 4 of these 4′ wide reinforced stringers on the long stair set of this deck for increased strength to make it sustain the weight. This is just one of the ways our extensive knowledge and experience as a builder ensures your outdoor living space is as structurally sound as it is beautiful.

Since their previous deck had barely enough space for a dining table with chairs and a gas grill on the side, it was important that the new one have several zones or areas for ample space to accommodate both of these functions plus a little more as the need arises. The raised octagonal platform will be perfect for outdoor dining with an unencumbered view of their full property, leaving the remainder of the deck space for a variety of functions such as grilling, entertaining and relaxing.

Middletown Fiberon Deck with Raised Dining Area Detail:

The new space consists of Fiberon Horizon decking boards in the color of Ipe, installed in a herringbone pattern for added visual interest and includes a Fiberon picture frame border in Tudor Brown for contrast. Created to resemble the fine Brazilian hardwood for which the Ipe color is named, Fiberon Horizon Ipe decking provides the most dramatic tropical hardwood look and surface durability in wood-alternative decking. It also features a 25-year stain and fade warranty, resists mold and mildew and is easy to clean. To complete the deck, we used Fortress Iron Railing in a matte black finish for a clean, classic appearance that is elegant and durable.

As we begin to install the herringbone pattern on the deck excitement mounts!

They are looking forward to having an outdoor living space that will facilitate a multitude of outdoor living activities, last for years and retain its aesthetic and structural integrity. The completed project surpasses all their expectations of what their ideal outdoor living space could be!
